Gallery at 3242 North State Street open Thursday and Saturday 10-4:00
The Fondren Art Gallery celebrates both the wide-ranging visual artistry and the rich musical history of the state, right in the heart of Jackson. We are very excited to share with you the opening of the Mississippi Blues Museum Art Show - a newly renovated space dedicated to the display and sale of art depicting Blues legends and culture, and a wonderful venue for many events to come!
The Blues Museum can be found on the lower level of the Fondren Art Gallery, at 3242 N. State Street in Jackson. The space includes three main rooms: "Po' Richard's Juke Joint" (above, left) - an area for drinks and conversation, The Portrait Gallery (below) - a room filled floor-to-ceiling with homages to all of your favorite blues legends, and The Green Room (above, right) - a delightfully emerald-tinted space with a stage, instruments, and yes, even more art.
The museum/art show is open now, but we will continue refining it over the next month in anticipation of a Grand Opening Event on October 5th, 2023. Keep an eye out for more details to come soon!
Founder Richard McKey's passion for music is already palpable in the space, and we are so excited to share both levels of this wonderful location with the Fondren community (and beyond!) in the years to come.
